Whubble is a family organisation app — shared calendar, chores, budget, grocery list, meal planning, and
location sharing for households. This policy explains what information Whubble ("Whubble", "we", "us")
collects when you use the app, why, and what choices you have.
Whubble is operated by Philip Law, trading as Whubble, of 24 Waltham Avenue, Stockton-on-Tees, TS18 5AE, United Kingdom. You can reach us at
[email protected].
2. Information we collect
Account & profile information
When you register, we collect your first and last name, email address, date of birth, and — optionally —
phone number, country, and a profile photo. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name and
email from that provider instead of asking you to type it in.
Family & household data
The family you create or join, its name, join code, member list, and the role/permissions of each member.
Anything your family enters into the shared features below is stored so every member can see it:
Calendar events, including who created and who's assigned to each one
Chores and who they're assigned to, including completion history
Grocery list items
Meal plans and saved recipes (including photos you attach to recipes)
Budget transactions and category limits you or another family member enter — this is
self-reported spending information you type in, not bank or card details; Whubble never
sees your actual payment method
Saved places (e.g. "Home", "School") and their addresses
Location data
See §3 below — this gets its own section because of how sensitive it is.
Connected calendars
If you choose to connect an external calendar, we store what's needed to keep it in sync:
Google Calendar — read-only access to your events (we request the
calendar.readonly scope only; Whubble cannot create, edit, or delete anything in your Google
Calendar)
iCal feeds — the feed URL you provide
Public holidays — the country you select, used to fetch public holiday dates
Communications
If you send us feedback or a support request through the app, we receive the message text, the category
you selected, and your account identifier so we can reply.
Automatically collected information
Crash and diagnostic data, via Firebase Crashlytics, if the app crashes or errors —
this can include device model, OS version, and a technical stack trace
Device integrity signals, via Firebase App Check (Google Play Integrity on Android,
App Attest/DeviceCheck on iOS) — used to confirm requests come from a genuine copy of the app, not to
identify you personally
Push notification token, so we can deliver notifications (chore reminders, calendar
alerts, arrival updates) to your device
Advertising data, if you're on a non-Premium plan — see §5
3. Location data — how it's used
Location is central to Whubble's "whereabouts" feature, so we're explicit about it:
With your permission, Whubble reads your device's location — including in the background,
when the app isn't open — so it can show family members a live status (e.g. "At Home", "At
School") and detect when you arrive at a place someone in your family saved.
Your current location and status are shared with the other members of your own family only
— never with other Whubble users, and never sold or shared with advertisers.
A history of your location status changes is kept (e.g. "arrived at School at 3:45pm") so your
family can see a timeline, not just a single point.
To show a readable place name (e.g. "Tesco Extra" instead of raw coordinates) when you're not at a
saved place, Whubble sends your coordinates to OpenStreetMap's Nominatim and Overpass services for
reverse geocoding. These are third-party, non-Google services used solely to translate coordinates into a
place name.
You can turn location sharing off at any time in Settings. Turning it off stops new location updates;
it does not retroactively delete history already recorded (see §6).
4. How we use your information
To operate the core features described above — calendar, chores, budget, groceries, meals, and
location sharing between family members
To send notifications you'd expect from a family organiser: chore assignments, event reminders,
transport pick-up/drop-off reminders, arrival alerts, and a daily digest
To respond to support requests and feedback
To maintain and improve the reliability of the app (crash diagnostics)
To detect and prevent abuse — for example, rate-limiting repeated guesses at a family join code
To show advertising, if you're on the free tier (see §5) — Premium subscribers see no ads
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your family's location, calendar, budget,
or household data to build advertising profiles.
5. Who we share it with
We use a small number of service providers to run Whubble. Each only receives what it needs to do its
job:
Account, family, and household data described
above; device diagnostics
Google Sign-In / Sign in with Apple
Optional sign-in methods
Name and email from
the provider you choose to use
Google Calendar API
Optional calendar sync
Read-only event data, only if you
connect it
OpenStreetMap (Nominatim / Overpass)
Translating coordinates to place names
Coordinates for the moment of the lookup — not stored by us on their servers, to our knowledge, beyond
standard request logs they may keep independently
Google AdMob
Advertising for free-tier users
Advertising identifiers and app
usage signals, per your device's ad settings
RevenueCat, Apple App Store, Google Play
Managing Premium subscriptions
Subscription/entitlement status — we never receive your card or payment details,
which are handled entirely by Apple/Google
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect the rights or safety of our users, or
in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets — in which case we'd tell you before your
information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
6. How long we keep it, and deleting your account
We keep your information for as long as your account is active and your family needs it. You can delete
your account at any time from Profile → Delete Account inside the app. Deleting your
account:
Removes you from your family's member list and permissions
Deletes your member profile and location entry from your family
Deletes your account record and permanently deletes your sign-in credentials
Content you contributed to shared family data (e.g. a grocery item you added, a chore you created) may
remain visible to your former family, in the same way it would if a member left any shared household tool
— since that data is jointly owned by the family, not solely by you. If you'd like specific content removed
beyond what account deletion covers, contact us at the address in §12.
7. Children's privacy
Whubble is designed to be used by a family, which naturally means household data can include
information about children. Here's how that works:
The person who registers an account and manages the family is expected to be an adult — a parent or
guardian.
Whubble does not currently verify the age of anyone registering an account. We ask that Whubble not
be used by, or to independently register an account for, anyone under 13 (or the minimum age of digital
consent where you live) without a parent or guardian's involvement.
A parent or guardian managing the family account is responsible for the information entered about
any child family member, and can view, correct, or remove it via the app or by contacting us.
If you believe a child has provided us with personal information without appropriate consent, please
contact us at the address in §12 and we will act promptly to address it.
8. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal
information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. In practice with Whubble:
Access & correct — most of your information is editable directly in the app
(Profile, Settings)
Delete — use the in-app account deletion described in §6, or email us
Location — turn location sharing off at any time in Settings
Notifications — manage or disable push notifications in Settings or your device's
OS settings
Advertising — manage ad personalisation through your device's OS-level ad settings,
or remove ads entirely with a Premium subscription
For anything not self-serviceable in the app, contact us and we'll help directly.
9. Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit,
access-controlled cloud infrastructure (Firebase security rules restricting who can read or write which
data), and app-integrity attestation to help ensure requests come from a genuine copy of the app. No method
of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information appropriately for what
it is.
10. International data transfers
Whubble's infrastructure (Google Firebase / Google Cloud) may store and process data in countries other
than your own. Where this involves transferring personal information out of the UK/EEA, we rely on
Google's standard contractual clauses and equivalent safeguards to protect it.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Whubble's features change. If we make a material change, we'll update the
"Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
